How do I begin learning generative art?
An introduction to Generative Art
During my research I realised that it would probably smartest to watch some tutorials on processing to start. Most examples I found and articles I read were about designs made with processing.

Why processing?

Its an environment where you can type in your code and execute it. It is also a community, on their website you can find a lot of helpful information, tutorials and examples. Everything is open source. People sharing their code, references etc.
here you can download processing
here you can find tutorials directly from processing
I also came across Daniel Shiffmanns You Tube channel "the coding train". He has a lot of videos on progamming in general but also more specific tutorials where he shows examples and leads you typing code.
Getting started with generative art
The questions I want to be answered during my research are:
- How can I make generative art?
- With what language should I start?
- Where can I learn it?
- Find sources with examples.
I found examples with the code that was used to create them on open processing.org
here you can visit his channel
Overview over processing 3 by Daniel Shiffmann
At 13.26 he starts talking about creative coding
Websites and articles I looked into when I was looking up how to start with generative art.
I started with his series instruction - processing tutorial
First he gives an overview over programming languages and then goes on with an introduction to processing. First he gives us some examples and explains what is possible with it.
here you can visit the website and explore sketches
Parallel to Daniel Shiffmanns Tutorials I also found this introduction to Processing. I really like this tutorial in form of a pdf. It explains step by step how to start with processing. The functions, different variables, examples and code to use. Since you read it you can really go through it in your own pace and I think its quite understandable.

I also signed up for "Splash of Code". You will get e-mails with a series of short zines. In each book you will make an art piece by typing in the code (JavaScript) they send you. This works without processing.
I decided to work with Daniel Shiffmanns Tutorials because he explains everything from the very beginning. He explains it very well even if you don't have any previous knowledge on the topic. He goes slow and explains everything step by step.
